Chris is one of the volunteers at Cara Coffee in Great Shelford.  Julie Whitbread, Cara’s Shop Manager, spent some time talking with Chris to find out more about what his motivation for volunteering at Cara Coffee and what he enjoys most.

Chris is a young man who was really keen to volunteer with us a at Cara Coffee from the time he first came in as a customer.   A few months ago, he was able to start volunteering with us every Friday morning.

Julie:      Chris, what made you want to volunteer at Cara Coffee?

Chris:     I like meeting with the volunteers and the customers, and it is good to talk with them.  I know some of the volunteers from church and hear lots about Cara Coffee.  I really wanted to be part of that team as well.

Julie:      How long have you been a volunteer at Cara Coffee?

Chris:      About 3 months.

Julie:      What do you like most about volunteering?

Chris:     My favourite thing is serving the customers and taking their food and drinks to them. I also like loading the cakes under the domes and clearing away. In fact, I like everything!

Julie:     Do you have a favourite snack and drink at Cara Coffee?

Chris:     I like Andrea's plum cake and the caramel shortbread to eat. My favourite drink is a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows.

Speaking of Chris and his contribution to Cara Coffee, Julie said:

"Chris is a great asset to the Friday morning team.  He loves volunteering and is always smiley and welcoming to the customers.  He has fed back to the church he attends on a Sunday morning about how much he enjoys helping at Cara, and his enthusiasm is inspiring!  Friday mornings are often very busy and he ploughs through lots of washing up."

"Thank you, Chris!"
